Chris Yingchun Yuan receives award from American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Robots on manufacturing floor

Chris Yuan
Chris Yingchun Yuan, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, has received the Chao and Trigger Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Established in 2011, the award recognizes a young manufacturing researcher under age 40 for significant contributions to fundamental science and engineering of manufacturing processes. Yuan was recognized for his research contributions to sustainable manufacturing of lithium ion batteries for electric vehicles through advancing the fundamental scientific understanding of the electrochemical performance, developing scalable manufacturing techniques for high-performance battery materials, and developing life cycle assessment models for improving sustainability performance.

Yuan accepted the award at the ASME Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference held at Texas A&M University in June.
